Holly began riding as a young child, and at the age of 7 got her first pony. She began taking part in local level and Pony Club shows and training. At the age of 13 Holly bought Abby a very green six year old. After a couple of years of training, Holly started working through the Pony club exams and began Eventing. After two seasons Holly turned to pure Dressage and continued to event Reggie in her spare time. Shortly after this Holly became an active member of BYRDS North West and started regularly training with UKCC level 4 coach Janet Horswill, and regularly took part in clinics with various Grand Prix Dressage riders. Holly went to university to study 'Equine Performance Coaching Bsc[Hons]', before going on to work for one of the UK's leading Dressage riders and trainers, Dan Greenwood for two years.
During her time in BYRDS, Holly represented the North West region five times at the Inter-Regionals and Home Internationals, gaining a number of podium finishes. Holly came second at the Winter National championships in 2013 in the Novice Restricted Petplan championships, and qualified for and competed at the BD National championships at Stoneleigh park in 2015. Holly was selected for the Pony Club rider development pathway 2015/16 as one of six riders selected nationally, only two of which were selected for Dressage.
Once deciding that Holly wanted a career in the Equine industry she was keen to broaden her education in all aspects of equestrianism. Holly completed her Degree in Equine Performance Coaching Bsc[Hons] at Moreton Morrell college, as well as passing her Pony Club exams up to AH standard. Holly also achieved her UKCC level 2 and BHSAI and additionally took her HGV driving test (articulated lorry -CE class). Holly is continually looking for ways to gain more knowledge and experience and has recently been selected for the Lottery funded BEF Young professionals programme 2021/22.
